The Rectory Site

Whereas all other Allotment Sites in the Borough are owned and managed by Gosport Borough Council there is a private site known as Rectory which is situated adjacent to Alver Lake in Alverstoke, the leafy suburb of Gosport. It is believed the site has been in use for personal cultivation since the 1890s from its early origins as the Church Glebe.

Since 2010 the Association has fully managed the site very successfully on a lease from the Diocese of Portsmouth.  This has been carried out quietly and effeciently thanks to the efforts of the local management team of Steve, Tim and Val.  A substantial part of the plot rents are paid over to the Diocese.

In July 2021 the Association funded a substantial refurbishment of the store that will hopefully make it last another 40 years.  Whilst we bought in the professional services of plot-holder Trevor, thanks go to to Steve Broughton who has spent many happy hours on site as Trevor’s assistant.

The Rectory is a lovely site in a lovely location. If you live locally and want to know more or join the waiting list for a plot on the site then please use the contacts page to get in touch.
